Bringing communities together through film
As part of Refugee Week, Groundswell partnered with Orange Picture Club to host a special screening of Dreamers at Luton Central Library, bringing local residents together to connect through film and conversation.
The film follows a young Nigerian woman held in an immigration detention centre, exploring themes of identity, resilience, friendship and belonging. Following the screening, attendees had the opportunity to reflect on the issues raised, share perspectives and take part in meaningful discussions in a welcoming and inclusive space.
The event highlighted the power of storytelling to build empathy, encourage understanding and bring people together across different backgrounds and experiences.
Our Community Connector in Luton, Laura, played a key role in helping to organise and facilitate the event, ensuring it was an engaging and positive experience for everyone involved.
